The law has been one of the country’s most distinguished and highly regarded professions for centuries. In the twenty first century it not only offers the opportunity for highly paid, stimulating work but also plays an important role the processes which help run the country. The profession is now firmly split between its two sections: those who are solicitors and those who are barristers. Many people undertake internships in both in order to work out which suits them best.

Law internships are often shorter, a couple of weeks for solicitors or only a few days for barristers (called ‘mini-pupillages’).  It is, therefore, paramount that candidates secure several of these during various university holidays. Doing so involves a variety of interviews, application forms and even speculative writing (writing off with a CV to firms without invitation to do so). This can certainly appear a mysterious and daunting process.
